The Aucon engine is compounded  of two machines with basically identical construction, one machine as compressor and the other as a motor, or hereafter named expander as the gas is ignited and expanding in the latter part.

Shown below are two machines assembled, one compressor and one expander.

The advantages are: (besides  those mentioned under the page The Aucon machine)  .

1.   As it does´nt need a crank mechanism it has small unbalanced forces.

2.   It has a longer moment arm than the traditional piston engine and therefore transmit a larger moment of torsion. The moment arm of the  piston engine is 0 at top center where the combustion pressure is as highest.

 3.  It has low weight/power relation.

4.   It has a complete scavenging as the volume of the combusted gases return to 0-volume (tangence line). There will not be any waste gases left mixed with fresh gases.

 5.  It has one combustion stroke each revolution and corresponds to a two stroke engine but with considerable better gas exchange and efficiency.

 6.  The working process divided in two units (compressor and expander) makes it possible to cool the hot compressed gas during the compression, which in turn makes it possible to have a higher compression rate and a lower combustion temperature for better environment.

 7.   Divided in two units makes it possible to vary the size relation between them. For instance it is possible to have a higher expansion rate than a compression rate in order to utilize the gas pressure as much as possible.

 8.  It has a large potential to be developped towards strong environmental demands by using alternative fuels and by a better efficiency. An interesting project with hydrogen mixed natural gas is shown in report nr 122 in Svenskt Gastekniskt Center, (page 4 in english)

 9.  It has a variable combustion volume, which is favourable at low load. See details in the patent documents.

 10. The exhaust chanel for hot gases is separated from the intake valve by the tangence line, why no uncontrolled ignition occur, which is favourable with hydrogen use.
